Karaoke5 Live: book songs and play the quiz from your phone

With Karaoke5 Live guests book songs, vote and play the quiz from their own phone, with no app to install. They just scan the venue's QR code.

What Karaoke5 Live is

Phones never see the whole song catalogue: they query it through the host, 30 rows at a time.

Getting the evening ready

The room has a fixed 6-character code: you print the QR once and it works for every evening.

1. Open Karaoke5 and connect mobile management. The venue name you type in Karaoke5 is the one the phones show.
2. Print the room QR, or open the room window on the venue screen: it shows the venue name, the QR, the playlist and who is singing.
3. Press Start evening: guests scan the QR, type their name and join.
4. Press Open bookings when you want to receive songs. You can close and reopen them at any time.
5. At the end press Stop evening: the statistics are saved in the history.

If you generate a new room code, QR codes printed before stop working: print the QR again.

Bookings

Guests book in three ways. With the catalogue and QR the backing track arrives already assigned; with a typed request the host picks it.

In every booking the guest can add key, dedication and notes.

On the host PC

• Bookings enter the playlist with the singer's name, and the playlist updates on the phones by itself.
• Per-guest limits (bookings in a row and in total) are set in Karaoke5.
• The Playlist tab shows the expected end, for example "end 00:10 (12)": 5 minutes for each track still to sing. Use it to decide whether to close bookings or carry on.

Changes and cancellations from the phone

• Guests can change key, dedication and notes. With the catalogue and QR, title and artist are locked.
• If a typed request changes song, the backing track picked by the host is cleared and the row goes back to be assigned.
• If a guest cancels a booking, it disappears from the host's playlist too.

The quiz

The music quiz is set up on the host PC and played on the phone: everyone in the evening sees it appear and joins with one tap.

1. Set up the game in the Karaoke5 quiz tab: name, modes (title, artist, intro, complete the lyrics, altered speed, title from the lyrics, year), difficulty, number of questions, seconds per question, players or teams (2 to 4), songs from a playlist.
2. Create the game: Karaoke5 generates the code and opens the lobby.
3. Guests join by tapping Join the quiz; on the host PC the player list grows.
4. Start: for each question the audio clip plays and the phones show the answers with a countdown. With the time bonus on, faster answers score more.
5. During the game you can skip, move to the next question, pause or cancel.
6. End: final leaderboard; on the phone the winner sees the trophy, the podium sees medals.

Upcoming nights and statistics

Upcoming nights. From the Upcoming nights button you enter date, time, title, venue, phone, a link (for example the Facebook page) and a picture from the PC. Guests see them in the Events tab and can call or open the link with one tap.

Statistics. The last tab of mobile management shows guests who joined, bookings received and sung, bookings by hour and the evening's rankings. Past evenings stay in the history and can be printed or saved as PDF.
